First, mahjong originated in China and belongs to the world.
Mahjong, which originated in China, is the crystallization of Chinese wisdom and culture. Mahjong tiles, also known as maque tiles, reflect the wisdom and philosophy of Chinese culture and reflect the Chinese people’s outlook on the universe, world outlook, outlook on life, values and way of thinking.
Intellectual competition has a long history in China, with a history of thousands of years. A set of 144 mahjong cards, regardless of size, is a game of one against three. From disorder to order and in the process of playing cards, four players are equal, only pick up cards and chow, peng, kang opponents’ discards, and use their own wisdom and strategy to arrange and combine a variety of cards, which is completely different from other board games. This style, this style of play, this technique embodies the idea of “peace and culture” that challenges oneself.

Second, the World Mahjong Organization was established to bring healthy, scientific and friendly mahjong culture to the world.
In October 2005, during the third China Mahjong Culture Forum and Open held in Pinggu, Beijing, mahjong organizations from China, Japan, the United States, Germany, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hungary and other countries jointly initiated the establishment of the World Mahjong Organization, and unanimously elected the honorary chairman of the Chinese Mahjong Open Organizing Committee, Mr. Yu Guangyuan, a famous scholar, as the president of the World Mahjong Organization and Jiang Xuanqi as Secretary-General.
The World Mahjong Organization is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political open sports organization, which makes it an authoritative organization dedicated to mahjong sports, competitions, training and exchanges.
After the establishment of the World Mahjong Organization, based on the input and wisdom of mahjong researchers and enthusiasts in China and other countries and regions in the world, a relatively perfect “Mahjong Competition rules” and a mahjong grade identification system were formulated, and a training and evaluation system for referees was established for promoting the development of mahjong in the world.
It is the purpose of the world mahjong organization to carry forward the Olympic spirit, advocate a healthy, scientific and friendly mahjong culture, promote friendship and exchanges among people of all countries and regions, and promote the dispersement and development of advanced, noble and elegant mahjong culture around the world.
The international mahjong competition rules promulgated by the World Mahjong Organization are non-political, non-religious, non-racial discrimination, non-gender discrimination, non-age discrimination, and intellectual mahjong competition rules suitable for men and women, old and young.
Following the rules of mahjong and the rules of the game, mahjong embodies a kind of education, a kind of learning, a kind of wisdom, a kind of virtue, a kind of order, a kind of respect for others, self-respect, respect for etiquette, respect for the public, it is a crystallization of wisdom and knowledge, the preservation of personality and character, the longevity of friendship, mutual assistance, relief and help. Such practice should be taken care of and observed.

Third, mahjong is a kind of intellectual game, a kind of intellectual sport and a kind of intellectual competition.

East: the competition venue should be marked (east) in the east of the natural direction in order to determine the position of the contestant’s seat. At the same time, the logo also indicates that the sun rises in the east and purple light comes to the east, reflecting the upward spirit of the vigorous development of mahjong culture.
Pin: that refers to the mindset and attitude, noble moral character, integrity and justice. People in mahjong competitions must be virtuous, honest and fair, which is a modest and gentlemanly style. Entering the competition one must be conscientiously implemented and run through the whole process of the mahjong competition.
Quietness: the competition venue environment is quiet, orderly, no noise. The atmosphere of the competition venue is peaceful, calm as water, concentrating on the game, reflecting the friendly mahjong spirit.

Fifth, the purpose and spirit of mahjong
The spirit and moral integrity of athletes are as follows:
Before you enter the game to play, you must refine your mindset and attitude first. You should be calm and not restless. Don’t be arrogant when you have a good hand, and don’t get upset and stingy when you lose the game. Don’t show your rejoice when the game is in your favor and don’t get depressed if the game is not in your favor. Do not raise your voice and show your expressions. The attitude and mindset come first and the character, moral, integrity and fairness are important. Playing as gentlemen and gentlewomen, this will be an excellent experience.
